REVITALISE ARE FAMILY

Church was never meant to become an institution or another one of the many organisations we attend. Church is meant to be the gathering of GOD’s FAMILY, a gathering of BELONGING.

Ephesians 1:3-6
[ The God of Glory ] How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

And just as Jesus made a clear way for us to belong to God’s family, as the Church, we should take great pleasure in creating spaces and opportunities for all people to discover this same love, grace, hope, forgiveness and the ultimate sense of belonging to Jesus.

At Revitalise our desire is that all people would truly find this sense of family. Family is not perfect and we will never proclaim perfection. In fact, we’ll be honest about our humanity and the fact that we are all on a journey towards Jesus. We are not Jesus (that is obvious. Ha.) and we will make mistakes but we are still family. Just like most natural families around the world, our Revitalise family will be full of beautifully diverse individuals who are on a ‘Love-journey’, passing through the mountain tops, valleys and level paths of earth on our way to eternity.

In a healthy family, the parents are open handed with their children. As they grow and mature the children can come and go as they please. They are encouraged to grow up and make decisions that will bless them and the world around them. Our prayer is that Revitalise would be this kind of spiritual family to multitudes of wonderfully created individuals, couples and families.

We will celebrate the good times. Mourn in the midst of tragedy. Do the mundane everyday, ordinary life together whilst refining as individuals as we devote ourselves to the process of becoming more like Jesus.

We will endeavour to be the hands, feet and mouth piece that reveal the Heart of Jesus to the world around us.

It takes time to create family and we are in the early days of Revitalise but gosh, we are so committed to building a church that brings glory to Jesus, embraces the multitudes and says to every individual YOU TRULY DO BELONG.

I am so grateful to be on the journey, with many others, to make REVITALISE family for many.
