A FRIENDLY WALK...
My childhood memories of the Easter weekend are around holiday fun and the smell of a good Australian barbecue. I grew up in a caravan park so it was crowded with all kinds of people and crazy festive activities. I would often be walking down the path to the beach with a friend, surfboards under our arms because the surf is always good at Easter.
The Easter weekend is one of the most significant dates in our calendar year, and these days I am more mindful of its deep spiritual meaning.
Good Friday actually started really bad because Jesus died on a cross for the sins of the whole world. We call it good now because God’s great act of sacrifice proves His love for us.
Resurrection Sunday declares an end to the power of death and a promise of new life for all who place their hope and trust in Jesus.
I want to focus on 2 friends walking the track trying to make sense of all that happened that significant weekend nearly 2,000 years ago. A stranger joined them on their journey and wanted to know what all the fuss was about. They told him about Jesus and all that had happened to him. Then this stranger explained the history of the world and the purpose of life. They begged this stranger to stay with them for dinner.
Luke 24:30-32 NLT
“As they sat down to eat, he took the bread and blessed it. Then he broke it and gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared! They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?””
These 2 friends were not able to recognise Jesus until they stopped to share a meal together.
God’s great desire is to walk with you on your path and explain to you the meaning of life.
Our greatest desire should be to invite Jesus to stay so He is no longer a stranger.
No matter where this Easter weekend finds you, our prayer is that you would invite Jesus closer, that He would open your eyes to truly seem Him and that His words would burn in your heart.
Happy Easter from all of us @RVTLS
UNTIL ALL HAVE HEARD!
